Case Study

TIMMusic is available everywhere, at any time, on any device

Integrate voice assistance with the streaming music service to facilitate user access, search and interaction with the platform. With these goals in mind TIMMusic has decided to make its official entry into the world of vocal interfaces: on the one hand, the world of car entertainment with the debut on the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay platforms and on the other the creation of skills for Google and Amazon voice assistants, thanks to the support of Open Reply, the Reply Group company specialised in the development of innovative mobile and commerce solutions.

The latest launch in chronological order is compatibility with Google smart speakers and displays, to listen to songs from the streaming platform simply with a voice command. To access the catalogue of over 50 million songs, albums, complete discographies and playlists, it’s enough to pronounce the desired title or the artist's name. Furthermore, thanks to a commercial agreement with Google, customers who purchase the Nest virtual assistant already find the TIMMusic service free for three months already included. The use of the voice interface also allows TIM customers to access several other services related to the telephone line using only the voice command.

The debut in the world of voice interfaces was, at the end of 2019, the creation of an integrated skill for Alexa, Amazon's voice assistant. With this skill, TIM was the first in Italy, again thanks to the support of Open Reply, to launch an integrated music skill that would allow "automatic" use of TIMMusic on Amazon's voice assistant without necessarily having to invoke the platform. In short, a real service integrated into the Amazon voice assistant platform, just like with international platforms. With this solution it has become possible for TIM customers to request devices with Alexa to play specific songs or playlists, using TIMMusic as the default music streaming service by simply using their voice.

TIM's streaming music platform is now compatible with all types of devices: smartphones, tablets and TVs, through the TIMVision Box and on-board infotainment systems such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on which it has debuted for some time and where the music has a significant bearing on the car entertainment ecosystem.
