24.-28. June 2024
TRIER
The European Land Robot Trial (ELROB) is Europe’s toughest & longest-running field robotics and unmanned systems event. Designed and guided by practitioners, made for the users, the industry and the R&D sector with the spirit of open-sciences & open-research. From June 24 to 28, military roboticists from all over the world will meet at German Armed Forces’ Technical Center for Land-Based Vehicle Systems, Engineer and General Field Equipment in Trier. Real missions in real deployment scenarios are one of many features of the European Land Robot Trial (ELROB), which takes place for the twelfth time this year. The main event is once again organized by the Fraunhofer Institute for Communication, Information Processing, and Ergonomics FKIE in Wachtberg.
Roboverse Reply is participating in this year’s ELROB24 together with ELP GmbH in the Team “ELP & Roboverse – Recon Fusion” as one of 19 teams. They take their marks over five days in various disciplines to examine the current performance levels of their robotic systems and compare different technical solutions. Roboverse Reply is the Reply Group company that specializes in the integration scenarios around Robotics, AI and Extended Reality, where Cloud or On-Premises Infrastructures require enterprise-ready solutions and is one of the first Boston Dynamics Integration Partners worldwide.
Transforming Bomb Disposal: Boston Dynamics' Spot Robots Enhance Safety and Efficiency
At ELROB24 ELP & Roboverse show the significant advancements in bomb disposal technology that are possible with the use of Boston Dynamics' mobile Spot robots. These versatile robots quickly provide visual, infrared images, and 3D scans in hazardous situations, protecting human lives. Traditionally, bomb disposal units used either heavy bomb suits or cumbersome robotic systems, which slowed down operations. Spot can investigate potential threats from a safe distance by scanning under vehicles or exploring hard-to-reach areas. Additionally, it can transport specialized payloads to precisely place X-ray devices at IEDs and perform multiple scans, minimizing risks to personnel. Other applications, such as handling hazardous materials and post-incident investigations, demonstrate Spot's value to bomb squads and other departments. Innovations like integrated mesh radios, additional cameras, Lidar scanners, and a gas multimeter enhance safety and efficiency. Future developments include AI integration for detecting hazardous materials and improving bomb disposal support, as well as quick-mount systems for rapid sensor attachment. These advancements aim to reduce the burden on first responders, improve decision-making under stress, and enable faster, safer responses to threats.
