The challenge
Keeping cloud activities on track without overly restricting individual teams.
Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Ducati - all these brands are part of the Audi Group. Each of these globally active companies collects, analyzes, and exploits countless data in the cloud every day. That's why the car manufacturer was looking for a solution that would not only make it easier for the different brands to implement and manage their cloud activities, but also ensure the same security, compliance, and quality standards across the group. However, to preserve diversity and the associated innovative strength within the group, the new solution should not restrict the teams any more than absolutely necessary.
Today, thanks to Storm Reply's support, the Audi Group benefits from a fully automated, serverless tool for providing AWS accounts: the Audi Cloud Service. The different companies can now select the cloud offerings they need from a defined product catalog - but they can also conveniently customize them to their needs if required. The perfect balance of freedom and standardization. Combined with comprehensive identity and authorization management, SSO functionality and central monitoring, this enables consistency in security, compliance, and quality standards to be enforced across the entire Audi Group when using the cloud.
The development of the Audi Cloud Service was part of a long-term collaboration between the car manufacturer and Storm Reply. The cloud experts not only support Audi with classic managed services, but also accompany the group on its complete cloud journey with a wide-ranging concierge service. For example, Storm Reply takes care of the expansion of the existing Image Factory, an automated environment used to create, configure and deploy software images or virtual machines (VM images). The focus is always on the continuous further development of all services to enable Audi to make optimum use of the cloud on an ongoing basis.
With the new Audi Cloud Service, the carmaker was able to promote secure and convenient cloud usage across the group - without restricting the freedom of individual teams too much. And so, the Group's AWS environment is growing steadily. By 2023, Audi already counts:
