Business Intelligence (BI) solutions are a key success factor in today's automotive industry. They form the basis for sound, data-driven decisions. This is why a major German car manufacturer has opted for a central BI platform that provides employees with useful data in an interactive and understandable way.

A solution that has been well received: each year, thousands of users access hundreds of dashboards, which can be quickly tailored to the needs of individual employees and departments using various filters and parameters. However, maintaining the Tableau-based platform used to be very time-consuming for the company. At the same time, on-premises hosting resulted in high costs and limited scalability.

Today, the automotive manufacturer benefits from a new cloud-based BI platform in Amazon QuickSight that is virtually indistinguishable from the previous environment for end users. As a result, there was no need for them to get used to the new tool and they were able to continue working seamlessly on their respective projects. At the same time, the new solution is packed with automation that significantly reduces the effort required for data updates, infrastructure management, security and scaling. This allows the company's IT department to focus on developing the platform and unlocking new potential, rather than simply maintaining it.

How we did it

90% accuracy thanks to a high degree of automation and GenAI technology

Using a special GenAI approach, Storm Reply's cloud experts were able to migrate conventional Tableau BI dashboards in just a matter of weeks with almost complete automation. Only ten percent of the data and content required manual intervention. Behind this is a special program, known as a parsing script, which independently creates a intermediate JSON file for each dashboard based on the information from Tableau.

This allows BI tools to easily read the information while creating an agnostic solution. In this way, the experts were able to transfer individual dashboards to Amazon QuickSight in seconds. As the approach is compatible with a wide range of tools, it will also allow for easy integration of data from other BI solutions in the future. As a result, the automaker can provide its employees with a single point of access to all relevant data on an ongoing basis.
