Are you able to keep under control your projects?

In Hermes Reply we were struggling with the problems deriving from manual controls over projects, so we have developed an internal tool for time control, with advanced project management functionalities.

Our Solution

Hermes Planner is a tool developed by Hermes Reply to support the operations of the project management team and to facilitate the governance of the delivery, in order to increase efficiency and savings. The tool has been designed to improve the control and to ensure the respect of the project milestones on turn-key waterfall projects, where the control of the activities is traditionally based on the dialogue project manager – technical leaders, with higher possibilities of misunderstanding and incorrect information on the status of the single activities. The results after the introduction of the tool have been great!
We have improved the visibility and the transparency on the real status of the projects, highlighting potential risks/issue in advance, with the possibility of planning risk mitigation strategies. Leveraging on a bigger amount of information and on dedicated KPI calculated in the application, all the stakeholders involved in the projects can take decisions and can intervene on-time to adjust, whenever it’s needed. The application (a Progressive Web App hosted on Azure Cloud) could be connected to Team Foundation Server and to Azure DevOps, in order to import data and be automatically updated on any action done on the work items.
The main scopes of the tool are listed as follows:

- Defining the organization chart, for every single project. Every resource, according to the role in the project, has a subset of functionalities available and tailored visibility
- Defining detailed WBS of a project, with the possibility to create as many sub-levels as needed to organize the project activities in phases
- Defining, for each single task, the foreseen effort
- Defining the budget of a project and comparing foreseen effort of entire WBS
- Tracking for each single task the effort consumed, in order to have a live status based on the values input by the team members
- Providing the information on the remaining effort, updated constantly by the team members
- Providing the updated information of the estimated time to complete the task/the project
- Assigning tasks to each resource, in order to keep under tight control the allocation of the team
- Planning each task in order to calculate automatically the project GANTT
- Planning absences of team members in order to keep under control projects during holidays
