The project at a glance
DB Systel is the IT subsidiary and digital partner of Deutsche Bahn and is driving the digitalization of all DB AG companies. With Adobe Commerce, DB Systel has established a uniform solution for DB Station & Service station managers at train stations.
Store system
DB Station & Service requested a store system for communication tools from DB Systel.
DB Station und Service wanted to establish a uniform look for posters.
DB Systel was looking for a flexibly adaptable store system that could cover the various requirements of DB's different companies.
Construction work on the track, information on detours, flyers, and posters at the train stations as well as rental exposés for new vacant spaces or information on the train station stores: The variety of communication media at train stations is enormous. And even if a printed poster seems to be a fairly analog affair—the design and ordering are, of course, done digitally. This is where DB Systel's IT expertise came in. DB Systel wants to give all DB companies the opportunity to open and design their own online stores. The Group partner DB Station & Service approached DB Systel with the desire for an easy-to-use e-commerce store for corporate-identity-compliant communication material design and printing.
DB Systel chose the e-commerce system Adobe Commerce for the implementation support for the Adobe Solutions Partner Comwrap Reply. By choosing Adobe Commerce, the IT service provider has put a modern, flexible, and connectable solution on track.
"It was clear to us that the Web2Print store was just the beginning," says Michael Ritter, Product Owner of Web Development & E-Commerce at DB Systel. "With Adobe Commerce, we have set the course for a successful, long-term ecosystem. The technology allows us to respond flexibly to the needs of various Group partners and offer them customized e-commerce solutions."
For station managers, this means high-quality communication tools can now be created quickly and easily. Corporate design specifications such as fonts and color schemes are stored in the backend, as are available dimensions, and the ordering process requires only a few clicks. In addition, the tool can be smoothly expanded at any time to include other services such as Adobe Analytics. In this way, DB Station und Service and future DB Systel Group partners who want to set up their own online store can use the analytics data gained to optimize their offering or set up new services.

With the implementation of the Web2Print offering for DB Station & Service, DB Systel has laid the foundations for further e-commerce deployments - with more stores to follow. "The players on-site know best what requirements the future online store should meet," says Michael Ritter. "We advise the Group partners with our expertise and will then work with them to drive further store offerings."
