Award winning legal business Slater and Gordon has authorised Microsoft to manage its user support, device management and endpoint security directly, in order to enable IT personnel to assist the company in focusing on flexibility and supporting its customers.
Slater and Gordon, one of the biggest suppliers of consumer legal services in the UK, is among the very first organisations to utilise the Microsoft Managed Desktop (MMD) unveiled in September 2018.
Head of Enterprise Architecture and Security for Slater and Gordon, Chris Gibbons, commented:
“This is an incredibly powerful tool and we’re delighted to start putting its innovation and considerable benefits to use. Data security has rightly become a top priority for all companies – particularly those in the legal sector. We take it incredibly seriously here at Slater and Gordon. Microsoft Managed Desktop gives us industry-leading security, plus an adaptable and flexible platform which suits our agile working culture.”
Secure solutions that provide further flexibility
MMD is a subscription service fully managed by Microsoft Security Operations Centre engineers based in the cloud that offers 24/7 monitoring to customers. Through MMD, organisations’ computer systems are continuously observed to protect against cybersecurity threats and constantly upgraded with the very latest technology and patches available, offering employees a safer and more effective workflow.
Slater and Gordon has issued Microsoft 365 and MMD to Surface devices containing enhanced security features, including a secure sign-in that no longer requires passwords. Users can now log-in to devices by just looking at their screen. Surface Laptop and Surface Pro devices will aid employees to now work any location in a secure manner.
If devices become stolen or lost, they can be instantly locked down remotely by engineers at the Microsoft Security Operations Centre and wiped of any sensitive data, safeguarding the legal firm and its clients.
A strong vision of modernisation
Chief Executive for Slater and Gordon David Whitmore stated that to meet consumer demands in the future legal firms must be constantly on the look-out for methods to become more innovative with greater flexibility.
In 2018 the consumer law firm reported plans for a £30m investment in digitising all legal services provided. This initiative included relocating its London office to a more collaborative and contemporary workspace stationed in Holborn.
General Manager of MMD, Bill Karagounis, commented on the law firm’s approach and why it fits with Microsoft managed Desktop:
“Slater and Gordon has a clear vision about how getting modern will drive their core business, and that’s exactly what we’re looking for among early adopters of Microsoft Managed Desktop. We have transformed desktop maintenance into a commodity function that frees up overburdened IT teams so they can better innovate and help users stay productive.”
