During Xchange 2022 our Net Reply colleagues have explained how edge computing, in all its meanings, will be a strong enabler for companies interested in operational efficiency and implementing low latency services, including AI/ML applications, as well as blockchain based applications (e.g., smart contracts), streaming, caching, and logistic, possibly connected by means of a 5G network, either public or private.
They showed how low latency is only achieved by reducing distances, and this is possible thanks to edge computing, regardless of the available bandwidth.
Additionally, they discussed a cloud service provided by a relevant provider allowing edge cloud to be integrated into a 5G network.
