Many companies maintain outdated and unsupported legacy versions of document systems because the large amount of data discourages migration to a modern solution and integration with leading business applications (such as ERP, CRM, procurement, etc.).
To overcome this issue, thanks to our experience, we can propose some approaches to optimize the migration path to OpenText platforms.
For example, some typical cases are:
- Migration of medium and large-sized OpenText archives (starting from 5-10TB) to new infrastructures such as private cloud or IaaS, ensuring minimal downtime, often limited to a single weekend.
- Data migration from various document systems to a unified OpenText infrastructure. This migration can be broken down into phases and can also be tackled for individual processes, services, or business areas.
- Upgrades and Lift&Shift to IaaS or Managed Instances of existing OpenText infrastructures to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) for document management.
- Decoupling metadata migration from physical content migration; this approach allows the rapid activation of a new OpenText infrastructure: the users access documents through OpenText, the physical migration of contents occurs in the background and in a transparent way for users. Our approach enables the availability and organization of hundreds of millions of documents within a few months, the physical file migration occurring in the background at a later stage.
