The latest report published by software firm Clutch indicates that the deployment of mobile business apps among small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) is rising rapidly, with the study finding that 42% of them were building their own apps.
These companies are increasingly regarding mobile enterprise apps as a useful way of enhancing their business practices and securing a strong return on their investment. Of those businesses that Clutch spoke to, just over two thirds (67%) stated that they were intending to deploy such an app before the close of this year. This would represent a more than 50% growth rate for the year.
Research into this area has found that enterprises cite a number of different features of the apps that they consider especially useful. The majority of the functions they appreciated were connected with improving the company, the ROI and customer service – with the latter being the single biggest motivator for SMEs to develop an app during 2016.
Management personnel age and company size, in addition to available mobile app resources, were the primary factors determining whether a company built an app.
Software company 9magnets’ co-founder and project manager, Cameron Banga, stated: “People won’t just go download your app because your business has an app. I think businesses are finding that having an app doesn’t increase sales, but the customer service experience on mobile is definitely increasing customer satisfaction.”
